Academy of Engineering Course Requirements

Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School is the only school in Wake County who offer courses using the nationally recognized Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Curriculum. Students focus on the process of defining and solving a problem by applying the Engineering Design Process.  The PLTW curriculum was designed to create an engaging, hands-on classroom environment and empower students to develop in-demand knowledge and skills they need to thrive.  

Academy Tracks

Academy of Engineering & IT offers two tracks:  Engineering & Information Technology.  Students are required to follow one of these tracks to complete the coursework required to graduate from the Academy of Engineering & IT.

Engineering

9th Grade Engineering Course: PLTW Introduction to Engineering Design 

10th Grade Engineering Course: PLTW Principles of Engineering

11th Grade Engineering Course: PLTW Aerospace Engineering or PLTW Civil Engineering & Architecture Design

12th Grade Engineering Course: PLTW Engineering Design and Development Honors

Information Technology (IT)

9th Grade IT Course: Comptia IT Fundamentals

10th Grade IT Course: Cisco Network Engineering I Honors

11th Grade IT Course: Cisco Network Engineering II Honors

12th Grade IT Course: PLTW Cybersecurity Honors
