Does Being in the Academy Limit Me from Taking non-Engineering & IT electives, Honors or AP/IB Level Classes?
The required Engineering & IT courses (1 per year) will only fill 4 of the total classes you will take during your high school experience. You are eligible to take your core courses for honors credit (or AP/IB credit, when applicable) if desired. The majority of the academy foundation courses (including internship) are taught at an honors/AP level.
As an Academy member, you are encouraged to take as many elective courses of your choice.
Will BEING in the Academy prevent ME FROM PARTICIPATING IN SPORTS OR OTHER EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES?
Engineering & IT students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities, especially CTE student organizations (CTSO), in order to foster leadership skills and help students become more well-rounded.
After school academy activities are rare which further allows our Engineering & IT students to participate in performing arts ensembles, athletic teams and other Southeast Raleigh sponsored clubs and organizations as well as organizations outside of school.
