"PANDAS ARE NO LONGER ENDANGERED. BUT  THERE HABITAT IS IN TROUBLE." (The New York Times)

           Pandas

Although pandas were removed from the endangered list in 2016 a recent census says that  at the moment there are just over 1,800 pandas left in the wild (worldwildlife.org.) The reason pandas are losing their habitat is caused by humans destroying their habitat for human development and encroachment (worldwildlife.org). Even though pandas are known as herbivores they actually evolved to be carnivores but because of the extremely low competition for bamboo, they changed their diet to solely bamboo (latimes.com). If we destroy bamboo forests we would be the cause of hundreds and even thousands of pandas dying of starvation and loss of habitat.

          Bamboo

You might be thinking why do we need to protect it? DEFORESTATION!!!!!!!!! Deforestation is when people are cutting and chopping up trees for wood, cloth, houses, pipes, furniture, fences, instruments, and paper. Bamboo is crucial to live, especially for pandas. They have a whole diet off of it. Pulse bamboo is a vital replacement for wood so if we keep cutting down bamboo, if wood runs out we will not have any replacement for wood then we can’t build homes or buildings!
