Our Problem

All children stories have some sort of conflict within them, as without a conflict they would simply be boring. Instead of removing the conflict from the story we decided to find a way to solve the conflict rather than get rid of it. We also decided to make sure that it is still an exciting and fun solution as no kid would want to read about a plain and boring one, which will make kids more creative and aspiring engineers in the future.

I can conclude that our solution was partly successful and only failed because of Mr. Young throwing it off-center. In a realistic situation the user would carefully place their on the wall to make sure it sticks right rather than throwing their hand at the wall. I also think that sticky gloves weren't our best option as I believe that the mattress would've been more successful. We waited until the last day to start building our glove, as we believed that was all we needed, but we didn't consider that the tape would give out so fast. If we had picked the mattress we would've started earlier greatly reducing our chances of failing. I can say that Rapunzel was the best choice out of our options as it provided us with the most solutions. I do think that we should have made a second glove to support the first one, which would have greatly improved our test results. We did get rid of the boots though as we could not find a way to incorporate them in the test. In conclusion, our test was partly successful as it managed to work for the first couple attempts, but failed shortly after.

Reflection

I believe that our solution was partly successful as it managed to stick to the wall for the first 2 attempts, but after the tape started to collapse on itself and the tap started to stick to the wall. Next time we will make sure that the tape is stuck better to the glove using staples to make sure it doesn't come off the glove. Next time we need to add more rice into the glove so it stays sturdier and doesn't collapse. One major thing we failed in was making the original design of the boots/gloves. We originally planned for them to be activated through a bluetooth mouth brace that could turn the stickiness of the gloves/boots on and off. We of course could not incorporate this in our final design, but we also failed to add the boots and the second glove. If we had made the second glove and boots to support the first, so that if the first glove fails, the second will support it. I think that we should have used medical gloves as then we would have been able to staple the tape into the glove. We would also have to put rice or some other material to make sure the glove stays sturdy. A major mistake we made was building the glove on the day of the test as we thought that if we left the glove out it would lose its stickiness. If we had made it earlier we would've had more time to make sure the tape was applied correctly and wouldn't fall apart. The solution failed when Mr. Young started to throw the glove as we never expected that the glove would be thrown as the user would never throw their hand at a wall. Once he threw it at the wall the tape could not stick as it had made indirect contact with the wall and started to stick to itself. Out of all of our options the sticky gloves seemed to be the best option, but now I believe that the large mattress would have been the best. We decided on the gloves over the mattress as nearly everyone did something similar to the mattress, but now I realise that building the mattress would not only have been more successful but much easier. All we would have had to do was make a pit of cotton and the egg would simply have to land in there without breaking. In conclusion, although there were many things we could have done to improve our solution, they were partly successful and proved to be one of our best solutions.
