Behavior

Galapagos Tortoises are like cows. At least their habits... They love to graze on grass and leaves. They are also similar to pandas, or koalas, sleeping 16 hours a day! I bet your jealous. They have a really slow metabolism.

The thing they do most often is eat and sleep. They are cold-blooded, so they like to soak up the warm sun. They lay there for hours and fall asleep. Towards midday, they like to keep cool. They may rest in mud, or some water.

"The tortoises also like kale, collard, mustard and dandelion greens, bok choy, and veggies" says Sandiego Zoo's website. They don't have the best sense of smell. So they use their eyes to find something. Lots of red things get their attention.
