As a teacher, my role involves teaching and responding to the needs of learners in a knowledgeable and adaptive manner, with the goal of helping them progress in their learning at an appropriate depth and pace. It is essential for me to adopt teaching strategies that cater to the diverse needs of all learners and ensure they are all making sufficient progress. I also need to continuously monitor the extent and pace of their learning, with a focus on promoting equity and striving for excellence for all my students.

Research indicates that Māori learners face unique challenges and do not achieve at the same level as other students. This can be attributed to the impact of colonization, which has led to the gradual loss of their country, language, and identity. It is crucial to acknowledge these challenges and work towards supporting the educational aspirations of Māori learners. As educators, we must take shared responsibility for ensuring that Māori learners achieve academic success while also honoring and preserving their cultural identity.

After conducting a guided reading lesson, I distributed these specific worksheets to the students with the intention of enhancing their comprehension of the story's summary. These particular worksheets were designed to prompt students to identify and select the most suitable word for each sentence, thus gauging their grasp of the material. Following the completion of the task, I encouraged the students to exchange their worksheets with a peer for constructive feedback and evaluation. Subsequently, we fostered an interactive and collaborative environment by collectively analyzing and discussing the answers. It is my practice to maintain a pedagogical approach that is not only well-informed, but also adaptable, in order to ensure that each student's learning journey is both enriched and personalized according to their individual needs and pace of progress.

I provided each student with a small card that prompted them to express their thoughts and emotions about the story in a single sentence. The main objective behind this activity was to gain insight into the students' comprehension of the story as well as their personal reactions to it. By engaging in these activities, I was able to ensure that every student was making satisfactory progress and to closely monitor the overall depth and pace of their learning.

Providing feedback means giving students an explanation of what they are doing correctly and incorrectly, with the focus of the feedback on what the students is doing right. During the writing lesson, the goal was for students to recount a personal life experience in past tense. These assignments gave me the opportunity to assess the students' understanding and figure out the best ways to support their learning. I made it a point to closely track each student's progress and keep an eye on the overall quality and pace of their learning through these activities.

During this math activity, the students were given the responsibility of grading their own worksheets. I instructed each student to provide explanations for solving the assigned math problems. This task was particularly helpful in enabling me to gauge whether they had successfully met the learning objectives. Throughout the lesson, I utilized various effective teaching strategies and approaches to cater to the diverse learning needs of the student group.
