For the drawings, the lines are implied lines from edges and lines of sight. The first drawing has more hard-edged, diagonal lines, and it’s meaner. The second drawing has more curvy and soft lines and its more calmer.
Artwork #1 is more adventurous and rough than number #2. Artwork #2 is more Calming and smooth. Artwork #1 mood is like you mad that your friends ditched you in the middle of the desert with a thunderstorm on the way. Artwork #2 is mood is that your friends didn’t ditch you and a storm is on the way. Artwork #1 is angry and Artwork #2 is more calming.
I think my first one was successful because, it Its more of my artstyle and it has more bolder lines and I accidentally added brown to it. I didn’t realize we weren’t supposed to add coloring to it. Unless it’s shading, but that doesn’t count as coloring on the page half away. I really like bolder lines, because I mainly use bolder lines in my drawings at home, when I draw my original characters. The dragon on the dunes is a sandwing. A dragon that can go without food or water for weeks. I just wanted to add a dragon so the drawing didn’t look so bland.
I have learned that the Cubist style is hard to do. I can’t shade that much and you need to color a lot of the time to get the Cubist style down. Cubist artists have a lot of patients to draw in this style and your wrists start to hurt after a bit of coloring in. I learned how to color and shade more nicely but still not the best at it.
I use sharp lines for the red panda with its fur on its face and the tip of its left ear. I added little triangles on its face to give it more pop and sharpness. I would change how I did my coloring to smooth it out even. I should work on the sharpness of the drawing more, like adding more shaper lines on the belly.
I had a difficult time with the coloring bit of the assignment. I can’t make the nicest of fading the colors out. I was probably successful with the lineart. I like doing sharp lines, I usually do round lineart when I do my normal art. I really had fun with this assignment.
The purpose of this project was to practice carving and inking the block. I showed the feather texture of an Aferican Grey Parrot. I was able to show the texture by carving out small slits for the feathers. I choose this texture because feathers are cool to draw or carve out
The printmaking process is hard and time-consuming. You either need to fully ink the block first or carve it out first, depending on what colors you chose to ink. It's a reduction print because the block needs to be carved away and inked on. It’s also a relief print because we are carving away the areas that are not going to be printed on yet. Registration means lining up and placing the paper down on the block precisely, so it doesn’t look crooked.
I learned that inking is hard. I learned that it takes precise carving and needs the right amount of ink. The challenging part was carving the block. I made some spots too big or too small. I think I did well with the inking. I try to get close to the original colors of the parrot. I had fun with this project and really enjoyed carving the block and making the block look weird.
There are 6 family members in my family, along with our 4 dogs, 4 cats and 5 chickens. Mom, Step-Dad, Me, Sister, Step-brother, and brother. Louis(Pitbull), Lucky(Blue heeler/Lab mix), Coco(Corgi), and Leo(German Shepherd). Mavis(Short hair), Martin(Long hair cat), Pepper(Nebelung), Qumiby(long hair tabby, peppers daughter).Me and my family are usually nice, to others (Sometimes my sister likes to be a prick). But we are nice in different ways. We get along good, well my sister gets on my nerves. My mom is the boss of the house. She is nice but if she gets mad or if we don't do our chores or my sister gets on her nerves, she’ll give us the mom look and tries to tell us nicely to do something. I listen to my mom, but my sibling especially my sister will fight about doing the chores. My dad is the co-boss. He is nice but if you push him to his limits he isn’t happy. He is a man-child if he isn’t working on his computer or in the garage. He likes to hoard stuff, especially cars. My mom doesn’t like it. Me, I’m quiet and will keep to myself. I mainly upstairs in my room, drawing and listening to music.
The sculptures have curves and organic shapes. They sit on top of each other going different ways. The top two ones do overlap each other and the bottom shape. There is empty space between the shapes. But the shapes depend on each other for stability. There are no open or closed shapes in the main shapes. It’s symmetrical, or is close to it. It has some uneven parts. The sides are the same length but it doesn’t have a flat bottom.
Yes, the craftsmanship was the best of my family sculpture. The colors are the expressive qualities of the sculpture. I had a struggle cutting out and making sure the pieces were even. The hardest part was making sure the sides of the sculptures were going to not fall when I tried to add support beams between the pieces. The painting was the east part of the sculpture progress. I wish, I could have more time to get the pieces more even and not have uneven pieces. I would say that this was my good piece. Which it is but not my favorite pieces.
The three pieces are me, my little brother and my dog lucky. We have calm or bubbly personalities. I choose the pieces to be more wavy and rounder. That’s what the pieces have in common, being wavy and round. I used the same designs for each of the shapes but made them different sizes and have different tail endings. We are pretty friendly with other people and get along as a family. The sculpture shows this by being on top of each other, looking like a pile.
My idea was to have tree-like branches come out of my face and have multiple colors at the tips of the branches. It expresses what I like to do and what I like. The branches kinda show my personality like I’m quiet and curious about stuff. I see and heard a lot when I was younger. But Im fine now, just I hate when I get yelled at. My original plan was to have sycamore tree sticks in my sculpture but, I decided to go against it. I simplify the tree branches to make them less pointy and more round.
I started with a Styrofoam core to make the base of the shoulders and the base of the neck. Then I taped the cut styrofoam core together. The neck base was kinda hard to tape and it is uneven but, I managed to make it. Then, I made a head out of newspaper and cardboard to shape the newspaper head. I added some cardboard bases for the hoodie as well as for the tree branches on the head. Then I added foil to my sculpture, Which was fun. Then I started to add the sculptamold to my sculpture, which is hard when you add the first layer of the sculptamold. But it gets easier when you add a thin second layer to the sculpture. Now painting was a nightmare. The cracks and bumps made it hard to paint. Then I let the paint dry and then I took two pictures a front and a side view.
I have learned sculpting is hard and takes up a lot of time. The painting was the easy part of this project. Putting the sculptamold on my base was a nightmare to put on. The skills that I learned during this project, will help me learn better time management. I kept my hope up during this project because this project was a nightmare to do.
