Traditional Grade Calculations Setup

Remove Homework Category from Gradebook setup – Grades 1-2

Objective: Board policy IHA-R (1) has been changed. Homework is assigned as an extension of classroom instruction for further practice of skills and application and will not be counted for grading purposes. 1st and 2nd grade teachers need to remove Homework from the gradebook setup and change Classwork to 50%.

Directions:

1. From the charms bar, select Settings> Traditional Grade Calculations.

2. Click the pencil in the Quarter 1 row to edit the calculations.

3. Remove the Homework category from the calculation by clicking the ( - ) minus sign.

4. Adjust the calculation so that the weight in the Assessment category remains at 50% and the Classwork category is increased to 50% per BOE policy.

**Please note the video begins with Q2. You will make changes beginning with Q1.**

To copy the settings to all quarters:

1. Go to the settings charm on the left hand side

2. Click the gear in the top right hand corner

3. Select the Copy Traditional Grade Calculations option

Step 1. Select the Within A Class Option

Step 2. Select which class you would like to copy From and which class you would like to copy To.

Step 3. Select the reporting terms that you would like to copy to. (Exp. Q2, Q3, Q4)

Next select Validate at the bottom of the screen.

Step 4. Once that selection is made, you can then copy it at the bottom of the screen.

You will now have the option to review the changes made by clicking the pencil that corresponds to the Reporting Term.

To copy calculations to another class, choose To Another Class option.

Step 1: Choose From which term as well as the class you would like to copy from

Step 2: Choose To which term and which class you would like to copy to

Step 3: Validate

Inactivate the Homework Category

NOTE: If you are a connections/resource teacher/special area teacher of multiple grade levels which include 3, 4, & 5 - do not mark the homework category as inactive. It is still part of the traditional grade calculation in grades 3, 4, and 5 and must remain in your grade book as an active category for those grade levels.

To inactivate a Category: (Do this for all categories you don’t plan to use). It is helpful to inactivate categories you don't plan to use so that the category is not applied to an assignment grade inadvertently.

From Grading>Categories, Click the Pencil (Edit) icon beside the category you need to deactivate.
Click the Inactive radio button
Save and Repeat if necessary.
