Space

The main idea that guided my artwork was whatever came to mind first. For example my Negative Space Leaves artwork was themed around halloween or horror since it's October.

The materials I used were graphite pencil, a gel pen, and a black marker to color in the black areas. For the red colored parts I used a red marker.

To make this artwork there were some struggles, The large black areas in the eye section didn't look great since the marker left strokes that you could still see. So I had to go over some spots a second time to give it the color I was looking for. I ran into some problems making the masks as well, I had to look up some reference photos of the masks in real life to be able to draw them on paper. I was planning on adding color but ran out of time so I was only able to add some reds to the picture.
