Throughout the entire year that I have taken art, I feel like I have learned a lot of new ways to create art through different materials. I’ve also learned a lot on how to improve my art  because I've gained more practice by making more and more artwork. The difference between my art at the beginning of the year compared to the end of the year is wild. For example, if I look at my WatchamaDRAWit project vs. my Mixed Media Drawing there can be improvements seen clearly.  The shading is better, the drawing has a lot more going on, and the perspective draws the person in. While doing different projects I was able to experience more types of art that challenges my strengths and weaknesses as an artist. I feel that my strengths in art are mainly drawing with pencils, while my weaknesses are more in painting.

If I had to choose what project was the most difficult for me, I would choose the Color Design project. Having to make so many different colors fit on a canvas was really challenging and exhausting for me. Having to force so many different colors on the painting was difficult for me since I like to keep my artwork on the more simple side in terms of colors.  In the end however I think it turned out alright. If I had to choose what project was the easiest, I would probably pick the scratchboard project. It didn’t take me a long time to finish it, and I think it came out good and was pretty accurate to the original picture. Almost immediately I was able to get the right scratch marks on my scratchboard that allowed me to have good control of the black to white ratio. This saved me the time of trying to learn how to scratch the scratchboard correctly.

The project I am most proud of is my Mixed Media Drawing. I did not entirely enjoy making this artwork because of how messy and difficult it is to work with charcoal. Being able to overcome the challenges I faced while drawing with charcoal allowed me to be proud of what I created. The drawing isn’t the most realistic, but the size of the drawing and the general quality of it is pleasing to me.

I plan on continuing to draw and make art even in the future because I find enjoyment from making cool art and sharing it with my friends. I will most likely mainly use graphite pencils to make art, but it’s possible I might branch out to other art forms if given the chance later on. Next year I will be going to region 10 to take creative digital media, and that will give me a chance to experiment and learn new ways to create things that I wouldn't have been able to learn otherwise.
