Hi there! Thank you for visiting Mrs. Click's Counseling Corner. This site will be my primary method for communicating the latest information about happenings in the WG school counseling department, including classroom lessons, all-school events, and important upcoming dates.
There are no words to fully express how much the news of Walnut Grove's closure breaks my heart. As we begin this complicated and collective grieving process, I anticipate that we will navigate a wide range of emotions: sadness, anger, shock, uncertainty, and disappointment. Every one of those feelings is valid. Yet amid the heartbreak, one of the emotions I feel most strongly is gratitude. Gratitude for this amazing place.
Walnut Grove is something special. I recognize that many of you have connections to this school that span years, decades, and even generations. Although I have only had the privilege of being part of this community for a short time, it did not take long to understand why so many people hold this school so close to their hearts. Its traditions, its sense of family, and its unwavering commitment to students are felt the moment you walk through the doors.
That is why I feel incredibly honored to be part of this school's story and enduring legacy. To help lead Walnut Grove through its final chapter is a responsibility and privilege I do not take lightly. While this chapter is ending, what Walnut Grove represents cannot be closed. The relationships built here, the lives touched here, and the sense of community that has always defined this school will continue long after the doors close.
In the months ahead, we will celebrate Walnut Grove and give it the beautiful send-off it deserves. We will honor its history, recognize its impact, and create meaningful opportunities for students, staff, families, and alumni to reflect on what this school has meant to all of us.
Most importantly, we will ensure that our students are ready to be true "Explorers" as they venture into the unknown. While we wish we could provide certainty for every step ahead, we can help our children learn an equally important lesson: life does not always unfold as we expect. Challenges arise. Plans change. Sometimes things we love come to an end. What matters is how we respond. There are many aspects of this transition beyond our control. For now, we will focus on the things we can control: how we support one another, how we care for our children, how we preserve cherished memories, and how we choose to move forward together.
I truly believe that even in difficult times, there is an opportunity to show our children what resilience looks like. We can demonstrate how to grieve something we love while still moving forward with hope. We can show them the importance of leaning on one another, honoring the past, and embracing the future with courage. As we navigate this journey, I hope we will extend one another grace, patience, and understanding. Although our future paths may lead us to different places, we will always be connected by the experiences we shared, the friendships we built, and the countless moments that made Walnut Grove feel like home.
Thank you for your trust, your partnership, and your love for this remarkable school. Together, we will honor its legacy, celebrate all that it has meant to so many, and ensure that the spirit of Walnut Grove lives on in every student, family, and staff member it has touched.
Holding you all in my heart!
