Poetry Unit

For this project we were asked to create five different poems, the first named, "Tell The World Who You Are." We had to write a poem. showing who we are through vivid imagery, and were asked to used similies and metaphors. For our second poem we had to write full of sensations, like sound, sight ,taste, touch and smell. This poem was called, "Tell the World About a Special Place." Our third poem was called, "Tell the World What You Think." We had to write a poem about what think about something, this could be a feeling or a physical thing. We were also told to enhance our voice in the poem by using sound deivces like alliteration, onomatopoeia, rhyme, rhythm, repettion, and/or meter. Our fourth poem, "Tell the World What You Love" was an ode about someone or something we loved. We had to put extra details about the person, object, or though we decieded to use. Our final poem, " Tell the World How it Feels" was about a single emotion. After completing our five poems, we had to choose our top two best poems for an event called the Poetry Slam. We had to present atleast one poem infront of the class and were graded by multiple teachers from various classes.Across the bleached sand waves gently crash on the shore

Summary

During this poject I worked on many skills to improve my writing and character skills. My work ethic was ok, I completed all of my poems, but writing is not my exellent. My time managment was good, I completed all of my assignments. Two "C's" I represented well in this project are, Conscientious Learner and Critical Thinker. I demonstrated critical thinking by spending time on my poems and really thinking about poetic devices. I was a Conscientious learner by using my previous knowledge of poetry to create new ideas and writing ways. I could have communicated better with Mrs. Muñoz when making the poems because some of them were missing key things to make a complete poem. I also coud have collaberated with my peers by having them review my poems to improve them. Overall this was a great project and the poetry slam made me feel like I got to know my classmates better.
