Drawing Tutorials

Our Goal

The drawing tutorials were guided weekly videos aimed at teaching us how to sketch, draw, and think about how we drew. While working on our Capstone and Heart Valve Model simultaneously, we were able to apply our drawing skills throughout the semester.

Orthographic Drawing - 

2D drawing is used to represent different views of a 3D object. The most common viewpoints are the top, front, and right side

Perspective Drawing - 

Realistic depiction of 3D objects, typically used in technical drawings. Uses different components of drawing techniques, such as vanishing points, horizons, shading, and foreshortening to achieve realistic representations

Vignettes - 

A frame that directs the viewer's attention to the sketch by drawing a box or boundary around it. this box sits behind the object to establish depth and finish to the item

Horizon Line - 

A line is used to determine eye level within the sketch. It helps to create perspective and to guide the viewer's point of view

Vanishing Point - 

the point in space that appears the furthest from the viewer. this point is where all points meet to create depth and perception within the sketch

Reflection

Throughout the drawing tutorials, I improved my drawing skills immensely. Although throughout the semester they became tedious, I continued to work on my drawing and sketching skills and ended up learning much more than I thought I would. I started with basically no drawing skill and am proud of what I have accomplished with practice.
