During this fase in our Capstone project we are going to shift our focus from planning to starting to build our products. We are going to use the help from our mentors and use our resources to build prototypes and evenutally a final product. We plan to create a marketable product by mid to late may at latest.
Prototyping: For our prototype fase, we are going to use our classification scheme to make and create new additions to our product.
Our team has found which types of filters can filter through physical matter and water soluble matter. This is important because we need to find which matter needs to be filtered first. Our reverse osmosis filter will not work if the water put into it is not pre-treated. Pre-treated water means water that has had all physical impurities removed. This then allows our reverse osmosis filter to remove the water soluble particles like salts and metals. To make our filter even better, we could find a way to incorporate a boiling mechanism. This would allow us to remove all the bacteria from our water.

Mentor Insights:
“Use images to show how each function works in each concept” - Jennifer Marshall
“Go into more detail on how each concept works to each function” - Ethan Hirschfeld
We are going to add lots of images to show how each concept works. This will give a visual so people who don't know about the technology can understand it better.

Report on 3 concepts we are pursuing:
We will create a charcoal and reverse osmosis dual water filter that is run on batteries and is carried in a tacklebox like case/carrier. We want to use the charcoal piece of the filter to clear physical impurities such as dirt and we want to use the reverse osmosis piece of the filter to remove chemicals such as salt/chlorine. We want to make something that is unlike anything on the market right now so we want to make the filter a 2-in-1 by combining the charcoal and reverse osmosis. To make it the easiest and most affordable, we will have it run on batteries as they are easily accessible. Following along the path of making everything easier, we will choose to create a tacklebox like carrier so it is easy to carry places and easy to store the product.
