Intergalactic Planetary

Evidence of Work

Over a few weeks, we made 5 models of intergalactic planetarys. Our first and second models were simple models of our solar system drawn to scale. While drawing our solar system to scale we had to find the distances from the sun that the planets were we had to find the mass etc. These first two models were some of our easiest and we had little trouble with them.

After the first three models that we created, we then started on our 4rth and fifth models. For model four we had to find some type of phenomenon on a planet recently discovered. Our phenomenon was orbital speed and the further the planet was from the sun, the faster the orbital speed. After model 4 we had to start model 5A, in model 5A we had to calculate the mass and radius of two unknown planets called x and y. We also had to find the velocity by using the equation v ={2\pi a}{T}.  

Lastly, for our model 5B we had to use the given information of the planets to then find the orbital speeds for Earth, planet x, and planet y. Then lastly we had to calculate our mass on each of these planets. Overall the experience of making these models was pretty nice as it challenged us the perfect amount.

On our models, we included and showed our calculations for our phenomenons. We also highlighted the answers that we calculated to make so you can see the answer more clearly. We made all our writing big so it is clear to see so that if we made a mistake it would be easy to find. We made sure that every piece of information was explained correctly and clearly. We executed that by including our thought process and all of the steps within the equations.  This was important because it helped us realize if we made a mistake or not.

Reflection

During this project, I overall had a great time and a great learning experience while also working with a good partner. There were a few days where we may have lost track and got distracted while not making any progress when we needed to, but I think we learned from that and we took pride in our work the next day to get everything done. I also think that it was pretty cool to learn about outer space for once and learn how to calculate to find our numbers for planets.

In this project, I worked on communication and conscientious learning. First for communication when we got off task and had to get multiple things done we communicated on who would do what and how we would do it. Then for conscientious learning, I think I did well in it I also need to work on it because I think we were very organized on some days but on some other days we were not organized at all.
