Our Project

For this project my team, Gregory Brown, Hannah Lam-Troung, Sara Bizikian, and myself studied and presented the hypo-kinetic disease, Asthma. For our presentation we used a poster to show images and content to give more knowledge about this serious disease. We chose this disease because it wasn't like other hypo-kinetic diseases because the cure wasn't to just get more exercise, it was to do less physically draining activities.

Once we knew that we wanted to do a poster for our project we used a black poster board, images and examples of asthma, symptoms, causes, affects, and other information about Asthma. Our entire board took about a week from planning to finishing our board.

Content

Hypo-kinetic Diseases: a disease related to, or caused by, insufficient activity and lack of regular exercise (sedentary living).

Asthma: Asthma is a chronic lung disease that inflames and narrows the airways. Asthma causes recurring periods of wheezing (a whistling sound when you breathe), chest tightness, shortness of breath, and coughing. The coughing often occurs at night or early in the morning.

Health Components of Fitness: The 5 components of Physical Fitness are used in schools, health clubs/ gyms to gauge overall health. These 5 components are; muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, and body composition.

Reflection

Although my group did a good job at finishing on time, there was certain areas my group and myself, could have improved upon. The first area that were needed to work on was, collaborating as a group. We didn't always have everyone involved in contributing to the success of the project. An example of this is during this project, two people were working on the poster while, the other to in the group were not helping as much as the rest. The second thing we could have improved was to set more goals throughout the project and planning the project thoroughly. As a group we did not really set any goals that would help us continue to develop our poster and split up without a plan which didn't help productivity.

Although we had areas we needed to improve upon during this project, our poster turn out amazing. One thing my group did well during the project our communication with each other. Throughout the project we were able to communicate about plans and we coordinated on who would bring the materials needed for the project. Such as we needed Greg to bring the Poster board. Another area my group exceeded the standard of was time management. We worked very hard and efficiently but, also finish our project ahead of time.
