School Shootings

Process

Our task was to find and reserch a problem around the world that we were interseted in. After many options to decide from, our group decided to choose school shootings to focus on. We researched many school shootings around the U.S and then we used the engineering design cycle to help us create a solution to this probelm.

Identify Need

We choose to create a solution for school shootings. We choose this because this is an ongoing probelm in the U.S and we had some great ideas on how it can be resolved.

Reserching the Probelm

We reserched school shootings to get a better undernstanding on the problem. In order to come up and create a solution we needed to fully understand the problem.

Sharing out

We all reserched speeratly and annotated 3 websites. The we shared out all the information that we gathered.

Solutions

Our groupn came up with 5 different solutions and choose the best option at the end.

Selecting our solution

Our final solution(s) that we selcted was making schools more welcoming and making a school shooter alarm that would notify when a school shooter is ner by.

Our Design

Our design was to make a BLUE looking alarm that would be seprate from a fire alarm that would make a bing-bing noise when a schooter is near. To make schools look more welcoming we would have schools make their campuses look clearner and hosts more events on campus so students can interact more with their teachers and fellow students. This would allow for people to create better relationships with people and to make new friends.

Ask- We all collectively took the time to resech and ask about the problem we were reserching.

Reserch- We reserched the problem on school shootings.

Imagine- We came up with ideas on how to protect schools from school shootings.

Plan- We came up with 5 differnt ideas on how to resolve the problem.

Create- We created a school shooting alarm that would be used to notify students and staff when a school shooter is near.

Test- We didin't test the probelm but from our reserch we knew it would probably be affective.

Improve- We could imrpove on our communitcation skills and problem solving faster to find a solution.

Refelction

During this project I think our group worked really well together and everyone contributed to this project. We all had lots of good ideas that helped us come to our final soulution. We decided together as a group what our final solution would be and we all agreeed collectivly.

I think things that went well this porject was communication and collboration. We all worked super well together and all worked well on our slides to make them the best they can be. Some things I think we can work on is probably critical thinking because some of the things we came up with wasn't the best we could've had but it still turned out to be great at the end.

Overall, This project went very well. I had a lot of fun with this and my group mates made it even better. This was a fun 2 week project that I would defiently would wnat to do again.
