For this project we were asked to create 3 different instruments that insisted of wind, chimes, and string. In our group of three I decided to design a string instrument. My string instrument was a harp. We had 1 1/2 weeks to do this project. My group and I were very efficent and worked very well together and got a lot of things done.
My blueprint:
My blue print shows all of the measurements and where everything is suppoesed to go. It also shows that 2cm=1 box which ill use in my final draft.
My harp:
My harp is made out of 3 pieces of wood and it's pretty similar to my rough draft. I added 8 strings and spaced them out at an even length.
For my projectI designed and created a harp. It can generate vibrations by the tension of its strings. When I pluck the string the force applied to the string causes it to move, creating a vibration. These vibrations travel through the air as sound waves, which we hear as musical notes. The vibrations of the strings alone might not be very loud so the hard has wooden boards around it and when you place it on a table it creates a soundboard that amplifies the sound. This helps make small vibrations into much larger air movements, making the sound more audible. When I made my harp, The wood pieces surrounding it were 13x13 and I connected it together by a small piece of wood that I drilled in 3 corners of my harp. This was so that my harp could have some leverage and when I played it, it would be laying flat on the table and it would create a larger sound. To propagate the vibration based on wavelength and frequency is by the strings vibration is directly related to the pitch of the sound produced. This leads to higher tension, high frequency. My notes ranged from C4 to C5. I also used the v=fλ equation to find my correct vibrations to create tones.
Here's my chart showing different types of Frequency, Wavelength, and Wavelength ½:
Electromagnetic Spectrum Info
Cell phone wireless signal works because it is connected to many different cell towers and it transmits and receives signals over radio wave frequencies and are processed and routed through a network of cell towers, routers, and internet databases to make communication between devices. This allows people to call, text, and receive information all around the world.
I would use a wave model for cell phone signals because it allows me to connect to electricity and use my phone effectively. I could not only use my phone but I could also use things like a stove top, hair tools, tv, and lights in my house.
Digital signals are discrete time signals generated by digital modulation and are denoted by square waves; they are also transmitted through computers, CDs, DVDs, and other digital electronic devices. They can be noise-immune without deterioration during transmission and write/read cycle.
Reflection
I think this project went very well. My group and I collborated very well and all shared great ideas. I think we were all very good conscientious learners because we all designed our instruments very critically and they all turned out good and sounded very good. Everyone in my group had fun working together.
I do think next time I can be a little more focued bceause at times we did get a little off track but then we really dialed in. I was absent for two days so I go a little bit behind but I did finsih my porject on time. We created a very fun song and had a lot of fun with this project.
Overall this project went very good and I had a lot of fun. I would defiently would want to do this project again and I loved the people I was working with. This project went very good.
