A comprehensive process to prepare students for career transition is in place. Students are given co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities that support career goals. Students are supported and recognized by staff.
Throughout the Emergency Response Pathway students are exposed to various career paths in the Fire Technology Pathway. Through guest speakers, field trips, and volunteer opportunities our students are able to experience the multifaceted world of the Fire Service career.
All of our students are supported by not only academic counselors but have access to College and Career Counselors, as well as the Program Director and NOCROP Counselors. Students who require additional credits have the ability to participate in an academic lab that focuses giving students opportunities for academic success without having to go to summer school or continuation education.
Our students are exceptionally prepared for college and career success. Many students request to come back and talk to the class about their post program experiences.

While we do not currently participate in SkillsUSA, we do have a interorganizational Skills competition for our Fire Tech and EMT students. This is a friendly competition between our two Emergency Response Pathway school, La Habra High and Los Alamitos High.
Our students compete in the following skills:
Firefighter Agility:
Stair Climb with Hose Pack
Victim Removal
Equipment Carry
Flat Raise
Dry Hose Deployment
Search & Rescue
Ropes & Knots
EMT Assessments:
Students compete in Medical and Trauma patient assessments using NREMT/OCEMS Skills Sheets.
Scenarios can range from shortness of breath, diabetic emergencies, and cardiac arrest to Motor Vehicle Accidents, head trauma, and amputations.
Students are evaluated on teamwork and leadership as well as their assessment and treatment skills.
The La Habra High School Firefighter and Public Fire Academy (FPFA) Program actively encourages student participation in local Fire Explorer Programs and volunteer opportunities with nearby fire departments. These experiences provide invaluable hands-on training, foster professional connections, and help students gain real-world insight into the firefighting profession.
By engaging with the community and working alongside experienced firefighters, students develop critical skills, leadership abilities, and a strong foundation for future careers in fire service.
Student recognition is in place such as student of the month or similar
