Early Exposure to the United States

New York City

Malina would travel to New York City every summer to visit her Grandparents in Queens. While visiting, she would always be given her favorite American candies and comic books.

Pennsylvania

Malina lived in Pennsylvania for a year with her father during the 7th grade. She thought "school was much easier" and people were "ignorant to Mexican culture". They even "asked if she has a donkey".

Los Angeles

Malina would go to L.A. every few months to buy wholesale clothing for her mom's clothing store. "Los Angeles was more like Mexico than the East Coast".
