I helped at and attended a pride event during June 2021 at a local Holliston bookstore, Aesop's Fables. I assisted and donated to the fundraiser for a former GSA member's top surgery, as well as listened to speakers about their experiences either in the LGBTQ community or as parents to LGBTQ kids. It was profound to listen to people share their stories and create an accepting environment that started a conversation about identity and sexuality.
I worked with Brenna Fisk on a mural in Mr. Marsh's room as a final for our AP Environmental Science class. This was a culmination of our passions for the environment based on what we had learned in class.
Over the summer of 2022, I had the chance to attend a weekend baking course at Johnson and Wales University. I was able to work with a professional chef and in an industrial kitchen/classroom setting where I made several pastries/goods and got to have a culinary student experience.
In my Botany and Suburban Homesteading classes, I have been able to grow my own vegetables, herbs, and flowers and experience the responsibility and work that goes into it. I also learned how to make my own garden supplies like pots and trays out of old plastic cups, which has helped me and my family and friends reduce our waste.
During my time in Tiny House, my class was able to take a day as a field trip to spend entirely on work around the house. We worked on insulating and organization of the next steps for the project, and had a great time as well!
