The Singapore Mathematical Society (SMS) has been organising annual national mathematical competitions since the 1950’s. The competitions had been renamed several times over the years. The current name, the Singapore Mathematical Olympiad (SMO), was adopted since 2001. The objective of these competitions is to test the ingenuity and mathematical problem-solving ability of the participants and to discover and encourage mathematical talents in secondary schools, high schools, and junior colleges in Singapore.

First run in 1978, the Australian Mathematics Competition is Australia’s longest running, largest and most well-known mathematis competition for school students. The AMC contains unique problems designed each year by leading educators and academics to challenge and extend students’ problem-solving skills.

Founded in 1950, the AMC is the preeminent math competition for students K-12. Today, over 300,000 students in 50 states and over 30 countries take the AMC to bolster their confidence and passion for math.
*Note: participation in the above competitions is NOT exclusive to TA (Mathematics) students and all interested students are welcome to participate! However, it is compulsory for TA (Mathematics) students to participate in the above competitions.
