Meet the Geographical Explorers !
Hi, I'm Keysha!
Hi y'all! I'm Keysha from 3H. I am very interested to do this investigation. This investigation allows me to know Singapore and the society in Yishun and Ang Mo Kio better!
I would say that my GI group is the best group I could ask for. I liked how everyone are active in the group discussions in class or outside class. I would say that our time management is well-planned as we don't rush this planning towards the deadline and I feel like our work also has been distributed fairly. My group and I even clear our schedule for an entire Sunday (21 Apr) to do this GI planning so that we can finalised everything without any miscommunication. I'm also amazed by my peers' dedication to research some background regarding this GI as we are not familiar with the area of study. They often raise questions (that I cannot think of myself) to be clarified by our teacher. If I had to do this GI planning all over again, I would said that we could do better making our hypothesis. We were having some trouble crafting our hypothesis since we cannot find a reliable source to based our hypothesis, resulting we need to change our hypothesis several times. Once I go out to carry out my GI, I hope that we, as a team, can work well and communicate well. Also, I hope that we encounter lots and lots of people who are willing to spare their time to fill up our questionnaire. Not only that, I'm hoping a diverse respondents from students, working adults, till elderly!
Hi, I'm Chloe!
Hii, my name is Chloe and I’m from 3T!
Overall, I feel that our group worked effectively together during the planning process of this GI. I liked how everyone contributed ideas and actively participated in the discussions. I also admire how everyone in our group constantly asks for feedback from one another to ensure that our ideas are of everyone’s best interests. However, if I had to do it over again, I would definitely try to spend more time on crafting the hypothesis as it is the most crucial part of the whole GI. Personally, I felt like we spent too little time crafting our hypothesis and did not really think the whole hypothesis through which led to us changing it a few times. Furthermore, I would try to gain more input from knowledgeable people such as our teachers and fellow peers to get their opinions about the planning stage of our GI. When we go out into the field to carry out our GI, I expect to encounter people who are not willing to answer our questionnaire. The reason being not everyone may feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and opinions and this is perfectly normal. I also expect to see less people around as we are most likely going to go out into the field during work hours, therefore there might be less people in the area, and most of them might even be the elderly or young children. So because of these reasons, I expect to only get little responses for our questionnaire.
Hi, I'm Michelle!
Hi everyone, I am Michelle from 3H. I really gained a lot of experience while planning for this GI together with my teammates. Not only I can know more about both places, Yishun and Ang Mo Kio, but I also know more about the process of conducting a geographical investigation in real life!
Overall, our team collaborated effectively throughout the planning of this investigation, with each member contributing their unique skills and expertise. Some of us have a better taste in art and colours and used this skill to design this website, while some are better in critical thinking and analysing data, which have helped us a lot in formulating our hypothesis and deciding on which data collection method we need. Each contribution from every one of our members played a crucial role in the success of our GI. Clear communication and regular meetings helped us stay organized and focused on our objectives, despite the challenges we faced. Looking back, I feel that we could have done better when formulating our hypothesis as we really spent too much time on it. This is due to us not researching relevant information from the internet beforehand, which had led to many adjustments to our hypothesis making. However, overall I feel that the skills and knowledge we gained from all the challenges we faced when doing this GI, will surely serve us well for future projects!
Hi, I'm Joy!
Hi, my name is Joy from 3H! Nice to meet you! It is a pleasure for me and my team as Geogies to conduct this investigation and know more about Singapore as international students! I hope this survey may give you another insight about Singapore! Have a joyous visit : )
It has been great doing this geographical investigation with my friends. I feel that I can receive many opnions of different perspectives from my fellow Geogies. However, I feel that we spent too much time thinking about the hypothesis, leaving us with less time to complete the others aspects of this geographical investigation. I would also like to contribute more if I have the chance, especially with my poor skill in making the website. We also tried consulting to our Geography teacher and our seniors for input, hoping to take this investigation to a greater and better extend. In addition to that, I hope many people would like to answer our questionnaire, regardless their ethnicity due to our effort in including various languages in the questionnaire.
Hi, I'm Oliver!
😘 Hello everyone! I am Oliver from 3H. I like spicy chicken from economy rice stall, because it empowers my geographical skills. If you meet me please buy me one :) Thanks!
I love how my group is able to meet up at a certain place and because of this, we were able to discuss more things about the investigation more productively. We are also able to voice out our opinions openly to a certain subject hence the discussions would have multiple perspectives and considerations to balance and I think this would really help us in the decision making. Some things I think we can improve is the time management. I feel that because it is in the midst of WAs, the division of the time to do the discussions is affected and hence we were kind of rushing it. I feel that we could improve on the time management if we would have to do it over again. Lastly, I think that we would encounter people who may be don’t want to participate in the investigation or potential limitations as shown in the website. But I hope when we go out to the field, we will encounter interesting things that can be saved as long-lasting memories with the group about the GI.
