HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT

Shanghai Immersion Learning Programme 2019

Due to my interest in learning more about Chinese language and culture, I participated in my secondary school's immersion learning programme to China. I learnt more about China’s illustrious history and its rapidly growing economy during this trip, including a visit to the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to interact and attend classes with the students of the High School Affiliated to Fudan University (FDFZ) in Shanghai. This trip broadened my understanding of China's rich history and culture.

Being Human Interfaith Dialogue Series by South East Community Development Council 2021

As someone keen to find out more about other cultures, I was chosen to represent my secondary school in this event. I gained valuable insights on cross-cultural and interfaith matters through conversation with other participants of diverse backgrounds and speakers who presented and shared their own views and perspectives on race and religion in Singapore.

SL Day Project 2022

I helped my class to plan a project to celebrate National Day together with the elderly at Lions Befrienders Senior Activity Centre at Block 344 Clementi Avenue 5 on the 8th of August, 2022. I worked together with my fellow peers to ensure that the programme was a cohesive one and enjoyed brightening up the day of the elderly who had attended through the various acitivities we had planned for them.

Pre-University Seminar 2022

I engaged in meaningful dialogues with students from different pre-university institutions across Singapore and persons of focus (Ms. Penny Leng, Senior Council, Marketing & IP of Airbnb & Dr. Adrian W. J. Kuah, Director of Futures Office, Office of the President at the National University of Singapore) under the narrative of Innovation in Singapore. At the end of the event, I had the opportunity to present a group deliverable to distinguished guests from the Ministry of Education, (including Mr. Alvin Yong of Stone Edge Experiential) where I created a website to illustrate my group’s idea of mobile hawker carts in Singapore.

Working on this project allowed me to gain a fresher perspective on matters in Singapore close to my heart and I also learnt about how to work cohesively with my teammates to develop a well-executed group deliverable.

10th Saints MUN Conference (2022)

I attended St. Andrew's Junior College's annual Saints Model United Nations Conference. I had the opportunity to work with my partner to represent the nation of Chile for the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM) to discuss matters pertaining to human rights.

During this programme, I learnt about the importance of diplomacy on the world stage and how to display my views tactfully whilst working with peoples of varied perspectives and views.

Saints Ambassador (2022-2023)

I am actively involved in the planning of key school events such as Saint Andrew Junior College's Open House where I represent the school. I get the chance to share my school experience as a Saint and promote the college to parents and potential students.

I have learnt to communicate well with other members in order to ensure that I can highlight the best aspects of the school together with the people I'm working with. Additionally, I was able to develop my communication skills and increase my confidence level when speaking to a large crowd in order to command attention.

SL Day Project 2023

I helped my class to plan a project to clean up the neighbourhood around my junior college. Furthermore, we documented what kind of litter was found and any environmental damage noticed during the clean-up in order to design a digital poster for Jalan Besar Town Council to be displayed at key areas in the neighbourhood to deter residents from littering.
