As a team, we presented three scientific posters at the Western Society of Naturalists Conference on November 10, 2023.
Pamela Avalos and Alaiyah San Juan presented specifically on the dental abrasion frequencies across the age classes and sexes in California Sea Lions. They give possible causes to our findings, such as dietary habits being a leading influencer for abrasion.
Seresa Perez studied the relationship between skull measurements and total body length of California sea lions (Zalophus californianus) which can provide valuable insights into age determination and sexual dimorphism of these animals. The purpose of this study was to correlate sea lion total body length to the four individual skull measurements.
Connor Keighran and Clarence Seludo displayed their findings on two specific case study, dealing with human activity affecting California sea lions such as gunshots and entanglements.
