As I approach the final semester of my undergraduate studies, I am focused on gaining hands-on experience that will prepare me for a career in the mental health field. I am currently seeking a summer internship with the National Alliance on Mental Illness Marin, where I hope to deepen my understanding of community-based mental health support and advocacy. This opportunity would allow me to work directly with individuals navigating mental health challenges while developing practical skills that extend beyond the classroom.
In the short term, my goal is to become a therapist working in mental health services. I am passionate about supporting individuals through their personal struggles, helping them feel heard, understood, and empowered. I am particularly interested in creating a safe and inclusive space for clients of diverse backgrounds, where they can explore their experiences and build healthier coping strategies. My academic background in psychology, combined with real-world experience, will serve as a strong foundation as I begin this path.
Looking ahead, my long-term goal is to become a clinical psychologist. I plan to pursue graduate study in clinical psychology to further develop my knowledge and clinical skills. In five years, I see myself either enrolled in or completing a doctoral program, actively working toward licensure, and continuing to grow as a mental health professional. Ultimately, I hope to make a meaningful impact by providing compassionate, evidence-based care and contributing to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health.
