Do you want to become better involved at DMS? Well you’re in luck because Cardunal Council is a club exactly for that! Cardunal Council has been up and running since last semester, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still join it, as we are always looking for new members with new ideas for how we can better spread school spirit. Cardunal Council usually meets on two Wednesdays a month, at 8:20 in the morning, in Room 173. For exact dates talk to either Mrs. Medcalf or Mrs. Rahimi. IMPORTANT NOTE: Mrs. Rahimi is currently on maternity leave until mid-February, so Mrs. Medcalf will be your best resource until then.
The next event Cardunal Council will be planning is the Girls Superfan Basketball Game on February 21st. At the event, we will have raffle tickets and concessions available for purchase as well as games and trivia. If you attended the Boys Basketball Superfan Game back in December, it will be very similar to that.
In addition, Cardunal Council is also planning a Spirit Week just before Spring Break, the ideas still need to be came up with. So, if you join Cardunal Council, you can help add your ideas to the Spirit Week!
As you can hopefully see, Cardunal Council is one of many amazing clubs at DMS, and you should definitely check it out to see if you enjoy it. If you have a blast, you will have the opportunity to participate in Cardunal Council the whole next school year.
As seen in the photos, the robots in Robotics Club are coming together. In the Robotics Club, teams put together robots and program them to do tricks. Though unlike the Robotics Team, these robots don’t compete against each other. Before winter break, there was the first Robotics Club “battle” where two bots tried to compete with each other, but they sadly failed. The bots attempted to hit each other, but only got stuck together. They tried again, and only got stuck again.
Currently, five new robots are being created, and fast! One of the robots is a computerized dog. The dog can sit and bark, just like a real dog! Another robot being built is a battle robot. It looks like a race car with lots of armor for protection from breaking mid-battle. Tons of more meetings and events are coming up, so stay tuned to the Cardunal Chronicle Newspaper for more information!
Here in guitar club at DMS you can have fun, learn how to play the guitar, and play songs.
In Guitar Club, we started learning songs on the guitar. So far we learned how to play Smoke on the Water.
The sponsors of the club are Mrs. Benge and Mr Blomquist. He is the one that runs almost anything. If you don't have a guitar, don't worry he will lend you one to you. To join the club, just ask Mr Blomquist to join. In Guitar Club we start by doing guitar center where you can just play whatever you want. Then to warm up we do sting taps, where you just tap the strings. Then we end by trying to play part of a song.
Our next meeting will be on February 13th and 27th.
Ski/Snowboard Club
The ski/snowboard club is where members go on three ski trips throughout the school year: December, January, and February. The trips are a first-come, first-served basis, and students will be responsible for the costs and for transportation. Trips are usually on Saturdays from 6:30am-7:30pm. The sponsor for ski club is Dr. Sitkie.
When are the ski trips?
The next scheduled ski/snowboard trip is January 27th. Students should arrive between 6:30-6:45 am at school. The buses will arrive at 7 am, and no refunds will be given if you miss the bus.
