Nightmares
By Winter S. & Sanvi C.
It was bright and cheery, then eerie and dreadful. My head was chasing with thoughts that I just couldn’t stop. It would be one thing, then another. I just had to - BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
My alarm clock rang loudly like a tornado siren. I awoke, shivering and shocked. I instantly reached for the alarm, remembering my horrifying nightmare.
I got out of bed and walked to the kitchen, my tiny apartment didn’t even have stairs because it was so small. I poured myself some cereal and walked a few feet to the couch. For hours I sat there watching TV, with nothing else to do. I was so lonely; I didn’t even realize it was already 2:00.
Did I sleep in again? Mom and Dad had always said I was lazy. I was feeling so tired, I didn’t care that it was the afternoon. I sat up from off the couch, and laid in bed. I fell asleep, and the nightmares came again. They felt like hours and were nonstop. They just kept going. Finally, I woke up at 7:00. Why did I feel so…different? I checked my phone, and that's when I saw it. The date had changed.
I thought I was delusional at first, that maybe I was hallucinating from a lack of sleep. I checked it repeatedly, I checked my clock, too. It was November 8th, 2047. I had slept through 24 years of life, because of…the nightmares.
