In this project, I am going to be making a picture of a kid from Sierra Leone named Abubakarr. I am doing this project to help a kid in a different country know that they are loved and valued by people that they don't even know. As we are going into this project, I'm nervous because I don't want to make this kid look bad, and I'm not always that confident in my work, so it scares me that I don't know the kid but at the same time it is nice. I just wish I felt more prepared about this whole thing, but I think it is because of me that I'm not prepared.
To me, the most important aspect of this is getting the kid to know they are valued and doing my best work on the kid so that they get a picture that looks like them. This activity is worship because I'm creating a picture of a person who was made in the image of God, and I get to use the gifts that God has blessed me with to draw this person. I will know I'm successful when I can look back on the picture and see how far it has gotten and when it looks like Abubakarr.
I honestly thinnk I rushed through this drain and if I would have taken more time I would have been able to draw it in a way that it shows more of the detail in the face. I struggled with the hair and figured out how to make it look well as well as the eye because I forgot to trace it so it kinda ruined the drawing.
This picture I think I did a really good job on the lips and geting the detail of the lower lip. I struggled with finding the right shade of his skin and I colored it in a way that makes it have lines which doesn't look good. Overall, I rushed this one and didn't get the colors on his face quite right so he looks a little funny.
I really enjoyed doing soft pastel; in fact, this is what I'm going to do his whole face in. It was so different from anything else that I have learned that I just loved it, and I really liked how I got to be creative with it and add more colors to the picture than there seemed to be at first glance. At first, I was struggling because I was trying to blend it too much, but once I got the hang of it, it was so fun!
