Intro to Art

Hand Drawing

I chose this subject because I wanted to see how far I could actually take my art abilities. During this first project, I learned a lot about art and about myself. I did not think I had the capability to actually do a good drawing with value. Something that inspired me was some upper class men that I know, talk to me about how they've done the same project and struggled on certain aspects as well. The goal of this project was to make the drawing was best as you can an get the full affect. What I hoped for was to get better at value through out this assignment and I believe I got better. What I like best about this drawing was my tool and pointer finger. Something I don't like is my palm isn't as defined as it could've been. This piece will influence my artworks in the future because I gained skills that I can use in other projects.

Bug Painting

When we started this painting I was very excited. I am more of a painter then a drawer but this was not as simple as I expected. I actually found the hand drawing more simple. Something that inspired me was knowing that I did not have to make it look identical to the picture of my bug like the hand drawing had to be. The goal of this project was to make a good looking bug but it did not have to be identical. What I hoped for through this project was to get many different color effects and learn how to make the colors needed for the picture. What I like best about this drawing is the long tail of my dragon fly. Something I did not like about this painting is the wings because I feel like they could've been better. This will help me with furthermore painting skills that I may need in the future.

Clay Jar

When we started molding the jars I thought it was very fun. Playing with clay is fascinating and such a weird substance. Seeing multiple other clay things around Mr. Langmaack's room inspired me with many creative ideas. The goal of this clay jar according to Mr. Langmaack is so to make "an awesome jar". We had no boundaries to what we could do and there was a ton of freedom in this project. What I hoped for was to make some type of Christmas jar to potentially give to someone in my family. What I like best about my jar is the slight color difference between the boots and rings on the boots. Something I do not like about my jar is how my chimney did not turn out as brown as I would have liked. Working with clay was a great experience and can be used in the future.

Clay Bowl

When we started working with coils, it seemed very fun and interesting. As time went on it became easier and more relaxing rather than stressful. Seeing good bowls being demonstrated made me want to make an even better bowl. The goal was to make a good bowl and it to not break in the process. I hoped to make a completely close jar with no holes or openings. Something I like about my bowl is the color I choose. However, something I do not like is how I could've glazed a little bit better. Working with coils was a great experience and would definitely do it again.

Clay Whistle

Working on how to make a clay whistle was very fun. Making it whistle was simple for me and designing it was quite the project. Looking at past whistles and seeing the potential you have to make something great is inspiring. The goal was to make a whistle that can whistle while molding your whistle into something you want. My hope was to do a good job at glazing and it still being able to whistle after the kiln. Something I like is how the glaze turned at a little matte on the top rather then shiny. Something I do not like is how one eye is more rounded while the other is flat. This was a fun project and interesting on how clay can make a whistle.

UnderWatercolor

When we started watercolor I was excited but had no idea a color scheme was needed to be chosen. After I heard that we needed to pick a color scheme I was more nervous especially since I chose a monochromatic color scheme. Using one color and being allowed to use black was challenging but I really enjoyed it. Watercolor was my favorite project that we have done throughout this school year. Something enjoyable about watercolor is that if you mess up, you can fix it with water.

Printmaking

Printmaking is a very interesting concept of art. There are a lot of steps to being able to actually print your animal. I was excited to start the project but slowly as the project got further in, I was ready to be done. It was enjoyable but consistently washing off the roller and palette was not fun. However, after getting the hang of printing, it was easier to get good prints. Something I hoped for was to get better at printing and I believe I did that.

Spot the Differences

The Spot the Difference art project was definitely not my favorite project we have done. It was easy but doing everything online and on videos wasn't very fun. Going into this project it became more time consuming then I thought but was super easy to get done over all. This project was not the best but still enjoyed trying out Photo Pea and how to edit images.

Cool Box

This box was enjoyable to make. The process was simple and I really liked doing this project. The nice thing about the art project was that it was not very time consuming and was not stressful at all. I hoped to get this project done well and efficiently considering I had missed a few of the demos and believe I did that. something that I could have done better on was probably making the name on top a little bit cleaner. However, I enjoyed this project overall and was fun.
