Introduction to Studio Art

Creative Lines

When I was first told the instructions about how to come up with a creative idea to make out of random lines, I started coming up with a whole bunch of ideas. As I was thinking, I realized that I should pick a theme, and just go with it. I decided amusement park. Soon, I had it all the way done and I started to color it. When I was finished, I was very proud.

Pencil Drawing

When I was first told that we where going to draw I tool holding a hand, I got excited. As Mr. Langmaack showed us examples, I thought I could never do this. As I started drawing, I was shocked how good it was turning out. It was really fun shading all the different spots with all the different tools. I loved drawing this

Bug Painting

When I saw that I had to paint a bug, I did not expect it to be like how it turned out. It was hard at times because we was not allowed to paint a smooth color. We had to mix colors and paint it before the paint drys. After mixing colors, we got to add colors in places that seem like they don't belong. For example, I add yellow and blue in the white stripes of the caterpillar.

Clay Whistle

We got to make a clay whistle. After we got it working, we got to make it into something. It was kind of hard think of something because of the shape, but I decide to make a saxophone. When I finished it, it had to dry out for a couple days and then had to be fired in the kiln. Then we got to glaze. it. Each color had to be in three coats. Lastly, we got to fire it again. Then it came out like glass.

Clay Bowl

The clay bowl was only made of clay coils. We got coils and transformed them into shapes. I made mine look like roses. After making the bowl out of coils, we had to set the finished bowl out to let it dry out. Then the bowl had to be fired in the kiln. After that, we glazed three coats onto it. After it was fired again, it came out like this.

Clay Jar

We got to make a jar and we could make anything out of it. I thought the a pineapple would be cool. It took awhile to make it's form because of the leaves. I had to use slip and paste each leaf on. After I finished, I got a wire and cut through the jar and it was uneven. The I carved the clay out. After it was dried out and fired in the kiln, then I glazed it and fired it again. It then came out of the kiln like this.

Watercolor

We got to do watercolor. I never restarted and painted an otter. We had to layer it by starting with the lights shade, and adding darker shades. It took a couple days, but I eventually finished. Then we got pens and added some texture. We also added shades and maybe some outlines. Then we glued it to black paper and hung it up.

Photoshop Picture

I thought that this project was fun and I learned a lot about how to photo edit. My favorite part was when I had to remove the Golden Gate Bridge. For me the hardest part was flipping the pole. I had to start over many times. One thing I could’ve done differently was make the stop sign look more clean. I think that the book will look great! I hope that when people look at this book, they will feel joy and have fun playing spot it!

My 3D Story

For this project, I had to go looking around my house for anything that might help me create a 3D picture of a simple story that happened in my life. I ended up using magazine for color, straws, string, paper clips, tooth picks, and hot glue. Piece by piece I formed these materials into my 3D story. I liked figuring out how to make the snake move. It was hard when I made myself because I had to make the right shape.
