India

Preflection:  In this project, we are creating portraits of children in orphanages who need to know that there is someone somewhere in this world that loves them.  I am very excited to have this opportunity and cannot wait to see the finished product of this project.

India Kids Project Practices

It has been rather interesting practicing in three different ways to make a portrait, some rather new and some familiar. During these last 4 weeks I have seen how each variation compares and to me it's very obvious in what I have excelled in and what needs much work. I have learned I find it easier to blend and work on finer detail through color pencil and pencil, I became very stressed with my oil pastel. My final decision after reviewing each practice I came to the conclusion to do pencil for the portrait and color pencil for the background of my choice of kid's favorite board game.

Final India Portrait

I am very satisfied with how this project turned out, granted I wasn't very confident with each attempt I made in the process. I believe I re-did my portrait maybe 2-3 times and ended up going back and using my practice sheet as my final one. It was very fun to go back to using pencil again with someone else other than me and finally sending it to a kid in another country. I hope he finds his portrait in good health and that he takes as much joy in it as I did. I want to let him know that there is someone in this world who is thinking of him and how valued his life is. If I could say anything to him I would say  " I see you.  You are a very handsome young man and I hope you have a blessed life."
