In this project we dove into what defines us as a person - and transforming those abstract attributes into a physical product.
I chose to capture my both my Dutch and German heritage as well as my love for architecture and design. My initials "KA" line the colonial-style buildings' rooftop in a cursive font. With the colors, I aimed for a neutral palette that could properly contrast with the black.
Our task for this project was replicating either a household product or food item out of a dense foam material. I chose to create a chocolate-dipped strawberry, spending much of the time on the fine detailing on the leaves. After correctly shaping the object, we were tasked with realistically painting the object (in my case allowing fluctuation in color for the leaves and strawberry).
I decided to recreate a hummingbird almost entirely out of clay and then afterward focused on painting it with realistic coloring based on photos. It was enjoyable to work on a single project for such a lengthy amount of time and produce such a fun result.
