This art project featured an animal of our choice to fully illustrate all the details and textures of the hair/fur with scratched strokes.
It was enjoyable to play with different techniques for value, texture, and detail. For example, more "intensive" strokes produced more highlights (which is an opposite process to most art projects). Texture also played an influential role in distinguishing features like the beak or eyes from the "softer" features like the hair. I hope that the finished product is able to emanate a realistic rendering of a baby duck as well as communicate the varying levels of value, texture, and detail.
We used colored pencils to recreate a method of transportation. The intention was to capture all of the metallic/shiny details that a car or similar vehicle would have. Adding flowers to the mix proved to be especially difficult.
This watercolor piece of the Darling Hotel I did was featured in the 2022 art show. I started with the ground level (with the chairs and umbrellas) and then worked up/down. We first used pen to create a coloring-book like outline to guide our watercolor. Making the reflection in the pool water was my favorite part.
This was the first 2D Art project and we committed months to creating a realistic self portrait of ourselves. We began with an eye which allowed us to develop our style of drawing before drawing an entire face - from there we learned how to draw fabric, eyes, and hair.
I wanted to capture a photo of my sister Samantha alongside after the chaotic summer before this year. I know this portrait will be very special.
In this project we used oil paint to create an expressionist-style painting. I chose to paint a breakfast scene and it was fun to capture the details of the fruit as well as the abstract structure of the waffles and glassware.
