In this project we are creating a portrait of a kid from Honduras. It will either be done with pencil, colored pencil, or pastles. Once we are done we will send it to the kid that we drew and they will send us a video of them openning it.
The most important aspect of the portrait is figuring out how you will do this project, whether oil pastel, pencil, or colored pencil. This is the most important aspect because you want to give these kids something you are happy with and have done to the best of your ability. This activity could be considered worship because we worship God in everything we do as long as it is done for the glory of God. So for me, this is worship because the main goal of this assignment is to make kids happy which we are doing for the glory of God. The only way I will know if I was successful on this project is if I feel sad that I have to give the peace of art away because I like it so much.
The last four weeks have been a ton of fun getting to mess with the different ways of draw. Each style is unique in there own way. For example with the pencil there is a lot of shade that you have to do in order to get the look you want. For color pencil you have to be careful with what colors you put on the paper because once you burnish it you can't get that color out and you can't really change it. For oil pastel it is really difficult to get the color you want and you can't make little line. From playing around with all these colors I have learn that I am terrible with oil pastels, I am okay with colored pencil, and I am good with pencil. So the method I am going to use for my project is pencil because I find it to be to easiest one to do and I also believe that I came out the best.
I was one of the easier projects that I have done I took only 2 weeks too make and I didn't feel rushed at all. I am very glad we were given the option to choose which style we do because I only really liked my pencil drawing . I am very happy with how it came out, but if I had to do it again I would make it less dark.
When this kid receives their portrait I hope that they are happy with what I have created and I hope it makes them smile. If I could tell them one thing I would tell them that Jesus loves them.
After watching the video I am so glad that I did this project because it allowed for me to be able to make someone happy that I have never met in my life and that I will most likely never meet. I made me happy to see that my art made an impact in someone's life even though it might be little it still made a impact.
