Preflection:
In this project I will be creating a self portrait of a 14 year old boy named Eduar so that he can be cheered up by the art that I create for him. I think that this project is very important for us to do. This is because we do not know what these kids have been through in their life so far and something as simple as an self portrait of themselves will really make them feel appriciated and cheer them up.
I think that the most important piece of this drawing is the eyes. If they eyes don't look good then the kid will look alien. I think the eyes are what give the image life. I think that this piece is worship of God because I am creating a piece of his creation as an image. God created every part of this kids face so in a way I am doing the same on paper. I will make sure I am successful by putting in the time and making sure every detail is accounted for. Every light and every dark.
All of the portrait stuff is new to me so over the past four weeks I have learned to use pencil, color pencil, and the oil pastels. My favorite of the three was the oil pastels however I chose to do the normal pencil because I feel more confident in my abilities to make a good portrait with them. I started with oil pastels and it wasn't going how I would like so I swithced over to pencils. Out of all three tests the color pencils was the worst of the three.
Overall I think I did a pretty good job at the portrait. It was my very first time doing a pencil drawing and for my first time I don't think it was bad at all. I really enjoyed using the pencil to create this drawing. Something I have used everyday of my life since I was little can be used to create such a life like image. I really hope that my child will enjoy his photo. I would tell them that they are created in the image of God and that Jesus loves them.
Final Video
Watching the video was very cool. I really enjoyed seeing the kids reaction to seeing their pictures and how happy it made them. Making something as simple as a picture to make them happy was really eye opening. I would make another picture again so that I can see the reactions of the kids again. Watching that video was a great start to my day.
