Syria

Preflection:

In this project we are drawing a kid from Syria so that then we can send them a little happiness of them seeing themselves in art form. I feel this project will really warm the hearts of children in Syria and make them feel loved.

Oil Pastel

During these three weeks of practicing a different medium every week i have learned a lot. First I´ve learned that i have improved in my pencil shading and technique since the last time we did pencil drawings. I also learned that i am NOT good with colored pencil AT ALL for human people. I can do some good colored pencil drawings but just not people. Then lastly i got to play with oil pastel for the first time and i really liked it! i like the style of oil pastel and how even the smallest of details can make the picture look like it has a lot of detail. I'm think i'm going to end up for the final project doing oil pastels because i just really actually enjoyed playing around with them. To me pencil and colored pencil is just so frustrating and when i was playing around with oil pastel i felt more relaxed.

Final Portrait

I personally think that this portrait turned out great! its my first time using oil pastels and i really enjoyed playing around with them. yes this portrait might not be as realistic as the main photo i was working with but i still think with the oil pastel style it turned out pretty good.  the girl i go liked to cook so i put a cute chefs hat in the corner for her and her favorite color was yellow so i decided to do the easier option and just make her hijab yellow. I'm proud of myself with this project and really like how the final projects came out.

when my child gets her picture i hope she thinks that it looks at least a little like her. im hopeing shes happy or just content with her portrait. im hoping she feels more loved and special as well. One thing i would say to her if i could meet her in person is not really what would i say to her more i would pray for/with her. i would want her to feel seen, heard, and loved most of all.
