This is my second time taking 2D Art, and this time I actually did my self portrait which I think turned out all right. I had a much easier time drawing myself without distractions, I also got to take a lot of bathroom breaks since I got pretty far on my self portraits early on which was pretty fun, on some of my bathroom breaks I would go to the strength room and workout with Charlie Gates and Brandon Ferries, I like doing that a lot especially on bench day which is my favorite because I live for the bench. Overall this project was pretty fun and not as bad as I thought it would be.
I decided to paint these strawberries as a way to experiment with glossy reflections and lighting effects. I really wanted to push myself to understand how light interacts with shiny surfaces and how to capture that realistically with paint. I’ll admit that painting isn’t my strongest skill, so the final result didn’t turn out to be my favorite piece. That said, I don’t see this project as a failure more as a learning experience. It helped me recognize what worked, what didn’t, and where I can improve. If I ever choose to revisit or redo this project in the future, I feel confident that I could apply what I’ve learned and create a much stronger, more polished version.
The animal etching was actually one of my favorite projects this year. We started by choosing an animal to etch, and I decided on a tiger because I think their stripes are cool and thought it would be a fun challenge. I’m really happy with how it turned out. The etching process took a few weeks, but it was enjoyable throughout. We placed our image underneath the glass and etched on top to replicate it, which kinda felt a little like cheating, but who cares i guess. Once the etching was finished, we covered the plexiglass with stamping ink and wiped away the excess, leaving ink only in the etched grooves. Then, we rolled a heavy press over the glass and paper, transferring the ink to create our final prints. Overall, it was a fun and cool experience to etch the plexiglass and stamp my tiger.
This project is the architecture watercolor project, I actually had a lot of fun with this one and i even really liked doing the door painting which was supposed to be a warm up for this assignment. I used to not like watercoloring but now I really enjoy it. I was rotn between making a painting of a place I knew or somewhere id want to go and I ended up picking somewhere I wanted to go which is a big city. The project as a whole was really enjoyable and I would love to do another if I get a chance again
