This year I had the pleasure of switching into 3D Art, and even though I started a bit behind, I was still able to create something I’m really proud of—a tea bowl made completely from clay with my own two hands LOL! That’s still kind of mind-blowing to me because I’ve never imagined myself actually being able to shape raw clay into a finished piece. The process was challenging at first since I wasn’t totally confident about all the steps, but with some patience (and a lot of help from Mr. Langmack and my table partners), I was able to figure it out and stay on track. One of my favorite parts of the whole project was choosing from the different glazes. Each one looked so unique and cool in its own way, and it felt like picking a personality for my bowl. I decided on a white base with hand-painted flowers, but unfortunately, I don’t think I applied enough layers for the flowers to really shine through. Instead, they ended up looking more like stains or imperfections, which was a little disappointing. Still, I like to think it gives the bowl some character. Overall, I’m really happy with how the tea bowl turned out, especially considering I started this class a little behind everyone else. This project taught me not only about clay and glazing, but also about patience, and just letting go of perfection. Can I get an Amen on that or what??
I made this etched plate, and honestly I'm really proud of it. I've even used it to eat my dinner off of which I’m not entirely sure is safe to do, but hey, it’s an art piece I actually use. At first, the process was a little slow making a simple clay plate, painting it with layer after layer, and waiting for everything to dry. But once we got to the etching part, that’s when things got exciting. It was so satisfying to scrape away the dried glaze and watch my design come to life right in front of me. Overall, this project was pretty okay since it wasn't too hard, even though I had to start over twice. Also I picked the color blue because it reminded me of "blue box" which is a really good show that Coltob likes. I still had a great time, especially since I got to hang out and bond with my friend Coltob at our table which was pretty neat.
This was my impressive box that I made, it is called an impressive box because when someone sees it they should say something like "woah that is super IMPRESSIVE" which nobody has told me yet, but my box was supposed to be like lightning or electric themed for my impressions but they ended up just looking like cracks, we first made all the walls to make the box and then we formed them together and smoothed them out to make a box, then we made the cool impressions with some popsicle sticks and then made some indentations and painted them with our glaze which mine did not end up right because it was supposed to be black and blue-ish but it ended up looking like dark green and green brown so ya. but I still kind of like it and think its unique in its own ways. Overall this project was pretty fun but ya I liked it.
