For the fist half of the semester we are drawing portraits of kids from Cambodia. These pictures are being used for a program where they are sent directly to the kids for them to have. I think this is a great project because we are using our talents to send to kids who would enjoy a personal gift to them. We started of by practicing differnt ways to draw. We did oil pastel, collored pencil, and regular pencil. I enjoyed regular pencil the most because we had already done a project like it last year so it was the most familiar to me. The other two were both fairly difficult and was pretty new to both of them.
I really enjoyed this project. It was my second time doing a self portrait using pencils and it was fun to be able to see improvement. Especially when looking back on my previous one, I could see the improvement. I would love to do this again and continue to improve because the end result is always so fun.
When Rsmey receives this project I hope he feels loved. This organization that is going on is such a blessing and I hope the kids love the connection that is happening between the kids and us students. Although it may not be perfect or there favorite picture, I hope they can find joy and happiness in this project that is happening each year.
After seeing this video of the students seeing there portriats, it really brought this project to life. Seeing them be so excited made me realise how big of a deal this is to them. Not only to them but to me to, to be able to connect with these kids through art was a great experience and was cool to use our talents for these kids.
