Introduction to Studio Art

Creative Line Drawing

This is my creative lines drawing. The first thing I saw with my lines was a mermaid. I then continued to add some other things related to mermaids and eventually made a scene of "The Little Mermaid." I am kinda happy with it. I wish i could get more detail in the mermaid face to make it more realistic.

Hand Drawing

This is my hand drawing. I chose this tool at first because I thought it would be a good tool to draw. When I finished, I realized this was not the easiest tool to draw because it takes up so much of the page, but overall I thought this was fun to try and make it look as realistic as possible.

Insect Painting

This is my insect painting. At first, I had chosen a difficult picture and then ended up changing it and chose this one. First I started with the background and thought it looked good, but when I started with the leaf I had a hard time making it look real. I ended it off with the insect and I am happy with how it turned out because it looks real. Overall I think I did a decent job and had fun trying to match the colors of the photo to the painting.

Clay Wistle

This is my clay whistle. I had a hard time choosing what i was going to make. I spent a lot of time just looking at the plain whistle wondering what I was going to do. So I finally just decided to do a giraffe. I put the neck and feet on and was about to say I was finished but then a good idea finally came to me; the good dinosaur. I added on a tail and made a mouth imprint. Once it was put in the kiln, I glazed it and it was done. I am really happy with how it turned out. Even after some of the small incidents it turned out well.

Clay Donut Jar

This is my clay jar. Once again I had a hard time figuring out what to make. I thought of making a cell phone at first, but didn't really like the idea too much, so I ended up doing a donut. Originally it was going to be a donut without sprinkles and then I decided to add them on one by one. It was kinda hard to figure out what colors to use for the sprinkles, but overall I really like how it turned out as a whole, but I do with the sprinkles would of turned out to be more bright instead of a more pastel color.

Clay Bowl

This is my original clay bowl. I got my inspiration off of a photo I found online. Although I didn't copy it entirely, it looks similar. This was for sure one of my longest projects. Once I started it was going good and I finally finished weeks later to put it in the kiln. When I came back langmack told me some bad news that my bowl had broke and that the reason was because I didn't blend it enough. He said I could just be done and get an A or do another one and also get an A, so I decided to make another one. I basically made the same bowl except for some little adjustments. This one went a lot quicker and it made it past the kiln stage. After that I chose the glazes and starting glazing it. This step took some time because I tried to make it look as good as possible. Finally, I finished glazing it and it went back in the kiln. It came out unbroken and I finally finished. I am really happy that I made another one and am happy with how it turned out.

Underwater Watercolor

This is my underwater watercolor. This was so fun working with and being able to make a gradient with the colors. I also liked the process where we would transfer the pencil on the paper at the beginning of this project because I had never done it before. Overall I am pretty happy with it and how much it looks like the origional project.

Printmaking

These are my prints. I had fun doing these but also was frustrated at some points in the process. While printing these some of them would smudge or smear and I would have to reprint it. Those were annoying. Overall this was so fun and I had a good time being creative with hombres.

Cardboard Box

This is my cardboard box. We started from scratch and picked out our metal and paper. First we scratched out our metal and wrote our name on it. This was not easy for me and mine turned out not looking too good. Next we cut our styrofoam and glued it together. Then we glued our paper onto it and we were finally done. Overall this prpject was fine. It wasn't as good as the other ones because it wasn't as personal.
