Madagascar, officially called the Republic of Madagascar, is an island country on the island of Madagascar and several smaller neighboring islands. Just off the southeastern coast of Africa, it is the world's fourth largest island, the second-largest island country and the 46th largest country in the world. It is home to some of the most unique, endemic, and endangered species of animals in the world, such as the ring-tailed lemur, the foosa, and the eye-eye.
