Calling all Artists and Writers–The Chrysalis 2025 Theme has been Decided!
By Jamison Quinn
The Chrysalis club is proud to present the theme for the 2025 magazine: Behind the Door.
But what does “Behind the Door” imply as a theme for this year's publication? In short, it is whatever you, dear writers and artists, imagine it to be. It could be a thrilling mystery with a shocking twist, or possibly a look into the future or the past. But really the theme is what you dream it to be, because it is you, beloved writers and artists, who are the heart and soul of the magazine, and Chrysalis needs you to help continue the great literary and artistic legacy of Clarence High School.
If you wish to create a wonderful piece of art or literature for this year’s publication, then you can email it to chrysalis@clarenceschools.org. If you are interested in joining the club, then you can go to room 215 on Wednesday, October the 23rd at 3:30 pm, or any Wednesday this year. We will be doing multiple different activities over the coming weeks such as writing workshops, having guest speakers, planning for the magazine, and of course a party here and there.
There is also a design section of the club which meets this Friday, October 25th at 3:30 pm. This is the team responsible for readying the magazine to be printed and distributed to everyone who participates in Chrysalis, whoever wins in competitions, and anyone who wishes to purchase a copy.
Did I mention that there are competitions that you enter into if you send in a work of art/literature? Well, Chrysalis runs 3 contests: A cover art contest, a theme writing contest, and a third contest in which you have to write with a certain constriction (last year it was odes), which has not been selected yet. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place receive a prize and automatically get their piece in the magazine, as well as a special recognition in the magazine.
There is so much that you can do for Chrysalis, whether you are a regular in the club or just want to submit a work of art. You all have the opportunity to contribute to a wonderful assortment of the school’s best writing and art, and have the chance to work with some amazing people and Chrysalis’s new teacher advisors Mrs. Sorrels and Mr. Aquilina. So why not submit to the magazine or join the club today, it will be a decision you will not regret!
