Sudan: What Can You Do?

December 19th, 2018, marked the beginning of a humanitarian crisis in Sudan: mass genocide, unlawful rule, sexual exploitation, and displacement. The current climate in Sudan is, in every way, unjustifiable and unconscionable. If not already, innocent Sudanese civilians will be forced into the refugee and asylum systems, fleeing to places unknown, in a world where seeking true freedom is far from plausible.

Every day, Sudanese civilians are subjected to weather shocks, faulty healthcare systems, widespread poverty, and rapid displacement. The number of people urgently needing resettlement and financial aid exceeds 25 million. Discovering and understanding the true magnitude of a global emergency in Sudan is the first step to creating change. And chances are - you did not know what the state of Sudan is, let alone that it is one of the highest-ranked conflicts on the national emergency watch list. The next step is promoting advocacy and acknowledging how systems accessible to us will be the organizations that help the tens of millions of Sudanese people.
Listed below are charities providing humanitarian aid to Sudan:
The Carter Center. Atlanta, GA.
Mercy Corps. Portland, OR.
Sudan Relief Fund. Washington, DC.
Project HOPE. Washington, DC.
Doctors Without Borders, USA. New York, NY.
Concern Worldwide US, Inc. New York, NY.
Water for South Sudan
Calvary Road Ministries
It is as easy as this: search the organization, find the “get involved” section on their website, and find a way to help, in any way you can. The Sudanese people are facing an unimaginable crisis, and having access to help is a privilege like no other. Before the conflict, 4.3 million Sudanese civilians were displaced. If their life has not already been accosted by the greed that comes with war, their future will be a reflection of how the people who knew, helped.
