Gymnastics Sectionals 2024

By Morgan Oddy

On Friday, November 1st, six Clarence High School gymnasts represented Section VI at Sectional competition at the Lancaster Field House. After winning Division 2 earlier in the season, the team went on to place second at Sectionals.

To compete at sectionals, gymnasts need to reach a specific score in an event or all around (all events). Throughout the season gymnasts competed both for Clarence as a whole and to qualify individually for sectionals. Olivia Chapman, Baya Kasprzak, and Elyse Fuller qualified for all around. Morgan Oddy qualified for vault, Alexa Goris qualified for bars and beam, and Tamar Langberg qualified for vault and floor.

“I think the season was our best in years,” says Coach Ludwig following their big win, “I had no expectations so coming in second place was a nice surprise”.

Olivia Chapman won vault, bars, beam, and all around, while Baya Kasprzak placed on all around. Both Olivia and Baya will be going to states at Clarence High School in March 2025.
