After learning about the First World War and the Interwar Period (1920s-1930s), we did a project on interwar advertisements for products that were common during that era. I chose to do my advertisement around a fictional new lipstick product from a cosmetic company. It aims to demonstrate the versatility and consistent quality of the product by showing how women at the time can wear it for speakeasy parties or even the office.
Through this assignment, I have learned more about the art of advertising from the 20s-30s, the history of make-up and women's liberation in a way that allows me to be creative in my decisions.
In Grade 10 Civics, we learned about forms of government, levels and branches of government, and theory of origins of the State. For the World Government Structures project, we had to create a detailed explanation of the structures and functions of a world government, and what benefits and drawbacks are associated with their organizational structure.
I chose to do a presentation on the government of Malta, a small European country. To create the final product, I had to intensively research Malta's history, its leaders and their responsibilities, the functions of each branch & level of its government, and many other aspects, alongside a close examination of the benefits and drawbacks of its government form (republic). For the benefits and drawbacks, I had to read many news articles analyzing the current political landscape of this tiny European country.
Through this assignment, I gained a stronger understanding of how a republican government operates and how power is distributed among the leaders, as well as a better point of view regarding politics and national policies.
