On Thursday 2 May at 3.30 pm, at the Seminar Room of the Faculty of Engineering of the Latina branch, the conference "Applications of artificial intelligence to medical diagnostics" will be held as part of the "Visions of the Future" conference cycle. The theme of the event will be the methods and tools currently used in the medical sector and the innovative technologies that can be used to improve the quality of results. In particular, the point of view of the researcher, who deals with medical diagnostics, will be compared with the point of view of the industry, which aims to create effective products that can fully incorporate medical needs. Following Alessandro Palombo, R&D Advisor of Project Consulting s.r.l., will hold a lecture entitled: "Artificial intelligence from research to clinic". A round table will conclude with the participation of Vito D'Andrea of ​​the Department of Surgical Sciences of Sapienza, Mauro Grigioni of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, and Umberto Nanni of the Department of Computer, Automatic and Management Engineering of Sapienza.

On Thursday 21 March at 3.30 pm, at the Seminar Room of the Faculty of Engineering of the Latina branch, the conference "The mysteries of water" will be held, as part of the cycle of conferences "Visions of the future", organized by Sapienza with its structures present in the Polo di Latina, together with the Roffredo Caetani Foundation onlus and the Society of Territorialists / and onlus. The theme will be that of the structure of liquid water, still widely debated, although it is the most common of the substances at the basis of the mechanisms that give rise to and sustain life. The most surprising implications are those related to understanding the fundamental mechanisms underlying biology. Antonella De Ninno, head of the Bioelectromagnetics laboratory of the National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (Enea) in Frascati, will give a talk entitled "Water: the importance of its structure for understanding life on the our planet ". A round table will follow which will be attended by Francesco Cioffi and Paolo De Girolamo from the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering, Marella Maroder from the Department of Molecular Medicine and Valerio Parisi from the Physics Department of Sapienza.

On Monday 14 May, in the Sala del Chiostro of the Faculty of Engineering of S. Pietro in Vincoli, a commemoration of Marino Algeri will take place, 50 years after his death. Marino Algeri was an Italian pioneer of Electronics and Telecommunications, a high officer of the Aeronautical Engineers, designer of transceiver systems in the expeditions of General Umberto Nobile and in the Atlantic crossings of Italo Balbo, collaborator of Guglielmo Marconi, full professor of Electrical Communications at Sapienza, president of the Ugo Bordoni Foundation, president of the Higher Council PT, director of the magazine High frequency In addition, he was a prominent figure in the group of so-called "Guidoniani", young and talented officers of the military aeronatics who operated at the Guidonia airport and the D.s.s.e. (Higher Directorate of Studies and Experiences) during the Second World War. The commemoration will be attended by family members, students and some "Guidoniani". From 26 to 29 April a cycle of seminars entitled "Leaky waves and periodic structures for antenna applications" will be held at the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering. The meetings aim to give an exhaustive knowledge of the basic mechanisms involved in the techniques of design, construction and application of antennas that spread waves. There will be professors from Sapienza and the Pierre et Marie Curie Universities, the Sorbonne, Fraunhofer Institute for High Frequency Physics and Radar Techniques FHR, Polytechnic University of Cartagena and Rome three. In addition, David R. Jackson of the University of Houston will be present as ESoA Guest Lecturer at this edition.

On Friday 24 June, the seminar "Patents for industrial invention: Requirements and strategies" will be held in the Cloister room of the Engineering headquarters in San Pietro in Vincoli, with the participation of Antonio Celona and Renato de Alteriis from the Rome office of Notarbartolo & Gervasi SpA The seminar aims to illustrate basic concepts regarding patentability requirements, the content of a patent application and national, European and international patenting procedures.
