Procedure of Teaching
ELICIT : Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson by playing Activity 1 "Crossword Puzzle" games.
ENGAGE : Establishing a purpose for the lesson. Learning about the theory of the formation of the solar system and the phenomena that occur in the solar system. Understanding the impact of the solar system phenomena into daily life. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson by youtube video.
EXPLORE : Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills. With the teacher’s guidance, the students will investigate the lesson using the guide questions.
EXPLAIN : Developing mastery by describe the impact of the theory of the formation of solar system in daily life.
ELABORATE : Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living and making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson . Students do Activity 2 “Arrange Words” Games and divided into two groups.
EVALUATE : Evaluating of learning, the student asked to do a quick quiz multiple choices in power point presentation.
Classroom Management
To make it easier to organize the class, student teachers use the student group method in carrying out activities. Students are grouped into two groups according to seating to reduce time wastage in group division.
Time Management and Organizing Activities
One hour of class for class 8 social science consists of 50 minutes and social science is given one hour of class per day. The learning session started by the first 5 minutes, will be used to do games to getting their attention so they can focus to the teacher presentation. The elicit, engage, and explore stage will take 20 minutes. And then the next 25 minutes are for explain, elaborate, and evaluate stage.
