When conducting classroom observations, we found that the methods used by teachers vary depending on the learning topic. My CT, ma'am Gym teach grade level 7, 8, and 10. When observing grade 10, she explained stoichiometry material through PPT and discussed questions with students in the science library. When observing grade 8 in the laboratory, students were divided into several groups. Students have previously done practicum on solution material and together with the teacher, students discussed post activity questions. However, on a different day, there was one class that had not finished its practicum so the teacher led the practicum in the laboratory. Students work independently with their groups according to the instructions given on the student worksheet. When observing class 7, the teacher showed a video from YouTube about general library safety and then gave students the opportunity to explain each part of the video by raising their hands first.
When I talked with Teacher Boonliang, Head of Science Department in Udon Pit, Science and Technology department focus on content, they focus on enhancing students' science process skills. There are projects to improve students' abilities. Starting this year, this project has been included in the STEAM project, which previously was only a STEM project. There are also subjects that focus on teaching students to make scientific products such as beauty products, soap products, and so on.
Books and modules are there to provide guidance in preparing learning instruments. This school is facilitated with several laboratories complete with tools and materials needed by students to carry out practical work. Teacher also took video from Youtube to explain the topic of learning.
