In teaching practices, some strategies used to manage the class are by providing direction on what will be learned, explaining the activities and their objectives clearly so that students know what is expected of them during group work and class discussions. Making rules in games, such as raising hands and shouting out the name of the group to answer. In addition, in learning, i use a group system to make it easier for them to discuss and can encourage them to listen to the explanation and presentation, and hope they will ask questions at the end. Actually, if we do not hesitate and are confident in explaining the rules or learning materials, students will also easily accept the materials and directions given.
In this teaching practice, of course, there are some obstacles, such as language barriers. I always feel worried whether students can accept my explanation or not. However, to minimize miscommunication, I tried the advice of my CT, teacher Beer, to speak slowly. In addition, because of the language barrier, I made PPT materials using pictures to make them easy to understand. Whenever there are obstacles, the most important thing to do is to ask the Cooperating Teacher, such as the teaching schedule system which is different from in Indonesia because there is military service training every Monday in Udonpit, how to use tools in the classroom, and so on. The guidance by teacher Beer was very helpful, he always gave direction and assistance when I was going to do teaching practice 🩷
